Imagine trying on a custom-designed engagement ring before it even exists.

This fantasy is now a reality at Indy Facets’ state-of-the-art Custom Design Studio and Gemological Laboratory, our very own jeweler’s 3D paradise where your dream jewelry comes to life.

We use our cutting-edge 3D printer to test a prototype of any piece before it’s created.

Slip on a one-of-a-kind engagement ring, fasten a unique necklace around your neck, envision how an heirloom jewelry piece would look after a professional restoration or see how a custom-created brooch sits on your favorite sweater. The possibilities are truly endless.

Jewelry + Innovation

3D printing technology has taken jewelry design to a new and exciting level. Using the same kind of printer that makes 3D versions of anything from medical devices and shoes to housing materials and much more, we can help you envision totally unique creations.

Although it may feel a bit like science fiction, a 3D printer puts a prototype in the palm of your hand in no time at all. It’s a magical feeling to see your dream take shape, right before your eyes.

Before experiencing 3D design for the first time, customers often have questions about how the process works. Here’s a quick Q&A:

Q: How do I explain what I want?

A: You’ll work with a jewelry design expert who has a background in gemology and custom design. Indy Facets is a leader in customer service and jewelry innovation – we’re one of the first local jewelers to own a Sarin gemological examination machine and offer 3D printing/design.

Q: Does the 3D printer use paper?

A: No. 3D jewelry printers create a mold using filament, powder, liquid resin and/or wax. Wax is a terrific medium for showing texture and giving a realistic impression of jewelry.

Q: What if the printed version needs more work?

A: No problem. That’s the benefit of 3D printing – to make sure you are 100% happy with the design before it’s created. If the band of your ring is too thick, for example, you’ll notice right away and we can make an adjustment.

Q: Will it really look like the finished piece?

A: The wax prototype will be intricately detailed and exactly the size and shape of the finished product. Typically, it won’t be the color, weight or material of the final piece – the precious metal and gemstones are missing. We will help you envision those details using computer software.
