So, Guys … your Mom just gave you her grandmother’s diamond engagement ring as an inheritance. What are you going to do about it?!

I know it’s a lot to think about and yet, so many possibilities come to mind when you realize the power of these two words: Restoration and Redesign. You can have that treasured engagement ring restored, so you can give it to your sweetheart when you propose to her. You can also create a custom diamond ring just for the bride, made with your great grandmother’s gemstones. Or here’s a totally new idea: re-design the jewelry for yourself!

Beautiful Design. Beautiful Result.

Our client Marty came to Indy Facets with a few heirloom pieces and some vague ideas of what he wanted to do with them. We custom created two very different, beautiful designs that exceeded his expectations. “One piece was a gift with a great deal of meaning behind it. It wowed!” Marty tells us. “The other piece was for me. Everyone who sees it is jealous.”

We worked with Marty in our usual collaborative and fun way, fully explaining the redesign process to him and keeping him informed every step of the way. With a little imagination and help from Indy Facets, your heirloom jewelry can have an entirely new life, while maintaining its family meaning. What’s more – Marty says, “Not only did they not flinch when I told them my conservative budget, they recommended ways to save money! I can recommend Indy Facets without reservation.”

The Purpose of Jewelry Restoration

Lots of antique jewelry has been passed down through generations and carries with it unique family history and personal stories. Restoring your antique jewelry is one way of preserving your family’s heritage, protecting what has been treasured for decades for the next generation.

Sometimes, though, these heirlooms are presented as gifts in less than ideal condition. Ask yourself this:

  • What is needed to restore my jewelry?
  • Will it be restored properly?
  • How can I trust such precious family heirlooms to a jeweler?

The trusted diamond and jewelry experts at Indy Facets will transform antique jewelry that is broken, worn and mangled into beautifully polished, repaired and restored pieces. Each is brought as close as possible to its original condition. In some cases, even beyond that.

Indy Facets client Angelica lost a very important ring recently, one that could not be replaced. “Shaun was able to replicate it,” she says. “It brings joy to my heart to have it, thank you so much.” For our client Drinan, who was very particular about keeping the design of her new engagement band like the original design, we also made her original band into a ring that she could wear every day. “Shaun exceeded my expectations and I would never go to anyone else for my jewelry needs,” Drinan says.

We use a variety of processes to restore and redesign jewelry including inspection, cleaning, polishing, replacing lost stones, re-cutting chipped diamonds and gemstones, repairing broken and worn prongs, thickening bezel walls, fixing bent shanks, replacing worn or broken shanks, engraving – even removing poor previous “repairs.” With our onsite, state-of-the-art Custom Design Studio, Gemological Laboratory and GIA Gemologist, your jewelry is always in good hands.
