Shaun has had a passion for jewelry since he was a small child. Playing with small gems and making and selling jewelry in high school. In 1999 a chance encounter pointed him in the direction of the Gemological Institute of America (GIA). After visiting the campus and world headquarters of the GIA in Carlsbad, CA with his father, he knew this was his dream and immediately made plans to attend. Shaun graduated in the top of his class with an on-campus degree in 2001 as a Graduate Jeweler Gemologist with Design and Wax. While attending GIA he had the pleasure to study jewelry design and hand rendering under the world renowned Robert Ahrens. Robert was previously the head designer for Van Cleef and Arpels.
Shaun has a vision to change the way people buy and sell diamonds. A number of years ago, while working for one of the nation’s largest independent retail jewelers, he had a realization. People buy diamonds to celebrate all of life’s special moments. Engagements, anniversaries, birthdays, the birth of a child, etc. But, many retail jewelers have lost sight of that fact, and have turned the experience into a business transaction. It wasn’t really the jewelers fault; the global marketplace of the internet has made the diamond business a more transparent, highly competitive market. The sad truth is that due to this competitive marketplace and the high overhead of a traditional jewelry store, many people are overpaying for diamonds that simply look good in a grading report and aren’t truly getting the beauty and value they are being sold. Shaun is passionate about making sure you get the most beautiful diamond at the best value, and that is why he founded Indy Facets. He believes you shouldn’t have to worry about the details of a diamond. That is his job, he will guide you through that process so you can focus on what really matters. The Love of Your Life, and enjoying that special moment together! Shaun believes when giving a diamond or custom piece of jewelry as a gift, you are giving the gift of love. Every piece of jewelry has a meaningful story to tell. It captures the moment in your life it was given and becomes part of your family. Those moments and stories will be shared many generations down the road. He is honored to have been a part of so many of those moments.
Shaun grew up in Indianapolis, graduating from North Central High School. He has followed his career around the country living in San Diego, New York and Boston before making his way back home in 2003.
